Corticosterone (CS) is an important immunosuppressor that prevents excessive activation of the immune system and the adverse consequences that can arise as a result. CS release from the adrenal glands is part of the response to an immune stimulus that is regulated by the brain, which integrates afferent information and coordinates a response that aims to restore homeostasis.
