Daprodustat for anaemia in CKD

Anaemia — a common complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD) — is typically treated with erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), which require parenteral administration and are associated with safety concerns. Findings from two randomized, phase III clinical trials presented at ASN Kidney Week 2021 demonstrate that daprodustat is non-inferior to ESAs in the treatment of anaemia in patients with CKD — regardless of dialysis status — both with respect to the change in haemoglobin level from baseline and in cardiovascular outcomes.
