Lymphatic vessels, embedded in adipose tissue, help transport fluid, immune cells and dietary fats absorbed from the intestine. The role of the lymphatic system in obesity-associated metabolic dysfunction is incompletely understood. Now, a new study shows that diet-induced obesity is associated with the progressive dysfunction of mesenteric lymphatic vessels, leading to lymph leakage and deteriorating insulin sensitivity.
