During the process of metastasis, nuclear envelope (NE) blebs form at the leading edge of cells to help dissipate intranuclear pressure and allow for invasion in constrained environments. Published in Nature Cell Biology, a new study by Jung-Garcia et al. demonstrates a role for lamina associated polypeptide 1 (LAP1) in facilitating NE blebbing and relatedly, migration and invasion of melanoma cells.
