Correction to: Nature Human Behaviour https://doi.org/10.1038/s41562-024-01889-6, published online 24 May 2024

An incorrect version of the manuscript, lacking author edits, was initially published and has now been amended. In the first paragraph, “access” was missing from “… as a means to access health care”. In the top left box of Fig. 1, “(n = 8,733)” has been corrected to “(n = 8,761)” in the text now reading “Potentially eligible calls based on chief complaint (n = 8,761)”. In the top right box of Fig. 1, “(n = 2,678)” has been corrected to “(n = 2,708)” in the text now reading “Excluded (n = 2,708)”. In the third paragraph, the text now reading “’Right Care, Right Now’, or the Nurse Triage Line (NTL)” originally just read “Right Care, Right Now”. In Tables 1–3, “P < 0.001” has replaced “P = 0.000”. In the fourth paragraph of the Discussion, the sentence “Recent statistics show that approximately 9.2% of emergency calls were sent to the triage line, representing over 14,263 calls to 911. Of these triaged calls, 43% were diverted to non-emergency destinations” has now replaced “Recent statistics show that closer to 47% of EMS-directed 911 calls in 2022 were routed to the line, resulting in over 64,000 calls triaged”. In the third paragraph of the “Ensuring community comfort and system capacity in the context of the intervention” section in Methods, “non-transportation vehicles” has been corrected to “non-emergency vehicles”. Additionally, A. Huberts, K. Y. Oh, D. Stanescu and S. Willig have been added to the Acknowledgements. These corrections have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
