Having fled Ukraine owing to the war, Tamara Martsenyuk is reflecting on her experience as a refugee scholar. Ukrainian studies should become more visible within Eastern European studies, she argues.

I was quickly joined by a friend and fellow sociologist, who came to my apartment. We stayed in Kyiv for nine days, under missiles and sirens, hiding in a bathtub in my bathroom and covering ourselves with a yoga mat.
