a Monolayer 1T′ WTe2 with centrosymmetric C2h point group. It has a mirror plane \({\cal{M}}_y\) and a screw rotation symmetry C2y, which leads to the inversion symmetry \({\cal{I}} = {\cal{M}}_yC_{2y}\). b, c Bilayer and trilayer Td WTe2 with Cs point group. C2y symmetry is broken, hence the inversion symmetry \({\cal{I}}\) is also broken in bilayer and trilayer WTe2.
