The optimized and scaled-up designs utilizes a copper foam in lieu of the RVC foam to reduce the absorber/emitter temperature gradient. For the scaled-up design, it is assumed that the device can be made large enough such that side losses can be neglected and that the superheater effectiveness can be brought to unity
