Dual implantation of penile prosthesis and ATOMS® system for post-prostatectomy erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence: a feasibility study

Subjects

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and erectile dysfunction (ED) are the most common adverse effects encountered by patients following radical prostatectomy (RP) [1]. Mild to severe SUI is often managed by further surgical procedures, in cases of conservative management failure [2, 3].

A variety of continence devices have been proposed. To date, the artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) is considered the gold standard, despite its expense, incidence of postoperative complications, as well as its not insignificant revision rates [4]. As a result, alternative systems such as the male sling and compressive urethral devices have been proposed [2, 5].
