Abstract
A new latent catalyst, based on 1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-5-ene (DBN), was specifically designed to be thermally deprotected at low temperature. In particular, specific isocyanurates based on the reaction of two substituted isocyanates with DBN are used as precatalysts for polyurethane (PU) synthesis. The activation temperature of the precatalysts is determined by differential scanning calorimetry, and the activity of the resulting free catalyst is demonstrated through a catalytic cycle on a PU model reaction.
