BASCD Honorary Membership

At the British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry (BASCD) Summer Scientific Meeting and AGM in Glasgow, awards of honorary membership were presented to Dr Jenny Godson MBE, former National Lead for Child Oral Health Improvement, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities at the Department of Health and Social Care; and Professor Andrew Rugg-Gunn, Emeritus Professor of Newcastle University, and founder of the WHO Collaborating Centre to strengthen research capacity and policy implementation in the area of diet, nutrition and oral health.

BASCD poster prizes

Also at the BASCD meeting in Glasgow, the Roger Anderson Poster Prize winner was Oral health within the justice system, involving the public in research design by Booth A J, Mc Goldrick N and Wanyonyi K from Queen Mary's University of London. Joelle Booth presented the poster at the event.

The Oral Health Promotion Poster Prize went to A cross-sectional study on patient experiences of receiving oral hygiene advice, submitted by Holloway J A, Davies M and West N X from the University of Bristol and presented by Jessica Holloway.

Each winning poster submission received £200 and a certificate.

CGDent appointments

Tashfeen Kholasi and Patricia Thomson have been elected as the College of General Dentistry's Vice-Presidents for 2022-23, and Louise Belfield, John Stanfield, Bill Sharpling and Sarah Hill have been re-appointed to their roles providing representation of the wider dental team on the College Council.
