Social media and tooth whitening: Intrinsically linked?

Social media's influence on appearance is likely to have played a part in the recent expansion of cosmetic dentistry. A scroll through Instagram will inevitably pull up streams of Hollywood smiles; most of which are followed by an affiliate link or promo code for discounts off various home whitening brands. With a staggering 90% of my, albeit limited, followers admitting to seeing whitening kits advertised on their own feed, and many commenting that they have invested in the hope of a brighter smile, the demand for whiter teeth has become one of today's most popular cosmetic requests and has had an impact on a very diverse audience.
