Dental foundation training year is your key to practising dentistry. You are put into a vetted dental practice that has to fulfil certain criteria, appointed an educational supervisor, given a personal development plan and are required to attend weekly study days to aid your development. More than £100,000 is spent on the aforementioned to make sure you meet a set standard by the end of the year.1 The aim of this year in the eyes of NHS England is to ensure you are competent enough to be put on the NHS dental performer list. However, like most things in life you will get out of it as much as you put in. Below are five things to help you maximise what you get out of the dental foundation year.
