This article looks at another clinical topic that further develops the ideas discussed by Kevin Lewis in an earlier article of BDJ in Practice.1 It is aimed at the individual clinician rather than the dental team because the clinician has ultimate responsibility for the treatment being provided and so must concentrate on the decisions made prior to, during and after embarking on a course of implant treatment.
