Representation in the field of implants

In 2021, this publication produced its first ever equality, diversity and inclusion themed issue, the centrepiece of which was a focus on the challenges facing women in specialty training - mainly maxillofacial surgery.1 Through some insightful and thought-provoking contributions, readers could have a peek behind the decision-making curtain, which in truth revealed a mixture of disparity and surprise at the choices facing women wishing to undertake specialty training.

Fast forward to this issue some 18 months later, and I thought it would be interesting to see what's happening in other areas of dentistry. BDJ In Practice spoke to Adela Laverick, Specialist in Prosthodontics and Committee Lead WIN ITI UK and Ireland, alongside Victoria Harper, Honorary Consultant/Senior Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, also a Committee member WIN ITI UK and Ireland, about the challenges presented for women interested in implant dentistry.
