Are more associates choosing private dentistry?

On 11 June this year, news broke that Portsmouth, the second largest city in Hampshire, was left without any NHS dentistry after the closure of three practices in the city. For the 288,337 residents, this left them no option but to seek alternate means.

Now, if I were a fresh-faced dental student straight out of university on the south coast, that would alarm me greatly. What sort of a career prospect is dentistry if an entire city is without access to an NHS dentist? If it were me, I'd definitely consider all of the options on the table - including the provision of private dentistry.
