I would first like to offer praise to the authors of the recent article “The estimation of GFR and the adjustment for BSA” [1] for highlighting an important topic that has not often been emphasized in the adoption of eGFR calculations—the simple fact that the estimations are already normalized to BSA of 1.73 m2. If not properly taken into account this can result in underestimation of GFR for overweight patients. However, I do need to point out an apparent transposition of the descriptions of the formulas (the formulas themselves are correct) for adjusting and unadjusting for BSA on the article’s second page (p. 1130) in the paragraph entitled “Adjustment for BSA”:

The formula for obtaining the adjusted GFR ( = GFR unadjusted/BSA × 1.73) follows the words “reversed the adjustment of the result by”.
