Gonadal supression treatment have been used to increased the final height in GHD children The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of this treatment on predict height in our GHD patients Ten children (3 boys) with Isolated GHD(IGHD) and six(1 girl) with Multiple Hypoth alamic Pituitary Deficiency(MHPD). In treatment with GH 0 1U/kg/day SC. underwent gonadal supression with LHRH-A and/or cyproterone and medroxyprogesterone acetate The patients were evaluated every two months for height and weight, pubertal development and underwent basal serum measurements of gonadotropins and sexual steroids(E2/T), before, during and at the end of the gonadal supression Table (values in mean±SD) Height increase was 33% higher in the MHPD group than in the IGHD group during a similar period of gonadal supression. Bone age increased only 50% in relation to gonadal supression period in both groups. Height standart desviation over bone age(HSD/BA) improved only in the MHPD group Predicted height mean increased 10 cm in MHPD group and 6 cm in the IGHD group. Growth velocity mean decreased during gonadal supression in the IGHD group and increased in the other group We conclude that gonadal supression improved predict height in both groups, remaining, houwever below target height MHPD group seems to have benefited more than the other group, maybe due to the fact that it presents a higher target height and for maintaining a better growth velocity during gonadal supression.
