Malignancies related to infection with the human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) are a part of the disease spectrum. We report six children (ages 2 to 9 years) with perinatally acquired HIV infection diagnosed with malignancies over a 6 year period at our center which followed an average of 250 HIV infected children over this period at any given time.Table
Our experience demonstrates the increasing spectrum of malignancies to which children with HIV infection are susceptible.Although toxicity may be severe, antineoplastic therapy should be considered as durable remission is possible.
