No prophylactic irradiation was used.

A follow-up study of 93 (70%) survivors of this protocol and 5 of an other 21 cases of ALL in childhood diagnosed during the same 6-year-period, was performed.

A questionnaire of 10 pages with medical and psychosocial questions was used, with a family control in each case.

Forms were received in a total of 94 (96%) of the 98 surviving patients with leukemia, and on corresponding controls.

There was no significant difference between the 2 groups with respect to physical and mental health.
