DNA hypomethylation correlates with patient age (a), especially from patients with tumors with wild-type p53 (b). Hypomethylation alterations were identified by methylation-sensitive amplification length polymorphism (MS-AFLP) in a panel of 77 colorectal tumors and matching normal tissues.25 The mutational status of several genes (TP53, KRAS and BRAF) was determined in these tumor samples as described.24 P-values were calculated using the Pearson's product-moment correlation test.
