In their new study, Davidson and colleagues found that mTORC1 activity was reduced in the striatum of patients with HD and in a transgenic mouse HD model (N171-82Q mice). This prompted them to investigate the effects of restoring mTORC1 activity in this region by injecting a virus expressing Rheb, a positive regulator of mTORC1, into the striatum on one side of the brain of N171-82Q mice and assessing its effects on several disease-related pathways.
