This month's winning image was submitted by John Runions (University of Cambridge (cjr41@cam.ac.uk)). It shows a plant hair cell (trichome) on a leaf primordium of Arabidopsis thaliana.
Green fluorescence represents a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged thaumatin-like protein that is expressed in cell walls. Red fluorescence represents chlorophyll autofluorescence. The image was acquired using a confocal microscope (TCS SP, Leica). Bar, 100 μm.
