The benefits associated with canakinumab treatment for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular outcomes correlate directly with the magnitude of the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) reduction achieved after a single dose of canakinumab. These findings come from a secondary analysis of the CANTOS trial, and were presented at the 2017 AHA Scientific Sessions in Anaheim, California, USA.

Patients with residual inflammatory risk are quite different from those with residual cholesterol risk
