Abstract
FieldML is being developed as an XML standard for communicating computational field descriptions and data. Important principles in its design include building models from as few and as fundamental a set of concepts as necessary, supporting maximum reuse, and allowing the functional derivation of fields to be of unlimited complexity. This talk introduces concepts from the FieldML data model (at version 0.3), and demonstrates how they combine to describe rich field representations.
