Retraction Note to: Diffractive imaging of nanoparticles on a substrate

The Original Article was published on 20 November 2005

Nature Materials 4, 912–916 (2005). doi: 10.1038/nmat1531

In the above article, the authors described the reconstruction of an atomic-resolution image of a small gold particle lying on a thin, carbon substrate from electron diffraction data, using a new iterative phasing algorithm. Subsequent re-analysis of this data shows that the image solution recovered was not unique, and that the substrate scattering is incorrectly treated. The authors therefore wish to retract this paper.
