MIF mediation of sepsis

Abstract

The individual searches for a natural antagonist of cortisol and for critical mediators of sepsis have converged in the finding that MIF is an important mediator of septic shock. The intersection of these two efforts reminds us that progress in scientific research often comes from surprising directions (164–170).
