In their correspondence regarding our publication in Nature Medicine1, Reber et al.2 confirm our conclusions about the degradation of inflammatory mediators by aggregates forming in the presence of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals and high concentrations of human blood neutrophils (aggNETs). By contrast, they conclude that mouse MSU crystal aggregates formed in vitro by mouse bone marrow neutrophils or in vivo in the peritoneum do not degrade cytokines or chemokines.
