Tong et al.1 responded to our proof-of-concept study2 for a method of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD) of trisomy 21 using a fetal-specific DNA methylation ratio. I hereby present theoretical and practical explanations providing evidence of successful implementation of the methylated DNA immunoprecipitation (MeDIP) approach for NIPD of trisomy 21.
