The part of the brain that helps a dog link catching a stick with getting a chocolate drop, does something very similar in humans according to new research.

Like it or not, we humans are not much different from the next animal in some ways. One of these ways, new research demonstrates, is reward-related conditioning -- the kind of thing that makes a dog associate catching a stick with receiving a chocolate drop. When it comes to making the connection between behaviour and bananas, say, our brains use the same circuitry as other species -- whether or not we are aware of it.
