RNA in Nascent DNA from Cultured Human Lymphocytes

Abstract

RECENT studies in microorganisms indicate the presence of RNA in nascent DNA and point to a role of the RNA as primer for DNA synthesis1–8. We report here evidence that RNA is also present in human cells in short chain intermediates of DNA replication, apparently serving a primer function as in microorganisms.
