Intramembranous Particle Aggregation in Lymphoid Cells

Abstract

MANDEL1 has shown, using freeze fracture, that the intramembranous particles of many murine lymphocytes are found in well-defined, tightly packed aggregates. Experiments where athymic “nude” mice or mice depleted of T cells were used, resulted in a decrease in the total number of lymphocytes exhibiting this aggregation; it was therefore suggested that only T lymphocytes contained clustered particles.
