Specificity in Initiation of Protein Synthesis in a Fractionated Mammalian Cell-free System

Abstract

A pure initiation factor from ascites tumour cells is necessary for protein synthesis directed by EMC RNA but not by globin mRNA. Mammalian initiation factors can therefore distinguish between different messengers.
