Human Leukaemic Cells contain Reverse Transcriptase associated with a High Molecular Weight Virus-related RNA

Abstract

Complexes of 70S RNA and reverse transcriptase have been identified in the white blood cells of 95% of leukaemic patients examined. The DNA synthesized by these complexes hybridizes to the RNA of the Rauscher leukaemia virus. It does not anneal to the RNA of either the avian myeloblastosis virus or of the mouse mammary tumour virus.
