Abstract
IT is recorded in Chinese literature1 that Paris formosana (Liliaceae)2,3, which grows in the mountainous area in Taiwan, has been used to treat malaria, helminthic infections and snake bites. We have now found that a crude extract of the plant has anti-neoplastic properties against several strains of human cancer cell, in tissue culture as well as in tumour-bearing animals.
