Glossary

RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (RFA)

Heat-induced tissue destruction using an electrical current that is passed through a needle electrode placed directly into the tissue

EARLY-STAGE HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA

A single tumor ≥5 cm in diameter, or up to three lesions of ≥3 cm diameter

CHILD–TURCOTTE–PUGH SCORE

Prognostic score used in patients with cirrhosis, based on laboratory parameters (prothrombin time, serum albumin levels, total bilrubin) and clinical parameters (ascites and encephalopathy)
