(g) Analysis of fibrillar morphology: fibrils’ average convoluted width as a function of height. The width convolution effect was caused by the finite lateral dimensions of the tip, which contribute to the measured width of the structures. This unavoidable broadening effect is more important when imaging structures with dimensions smaller or comparable with the tip’s apical radius (≈10 nm).
