During late summer and early fall, radical critics of genetically modified (GM) crops went on a sporadic rampage at selected sites across the US, damaging several research plots managed by either company or university teams (see Table 1). Taken together, these developments suggest a broadening and intensification of the campaign in the US against the commercialization of GM crops, as well as the basic and applied research that supports those efforts.
