A new program connects local science teachers with the bioscience industry.

CBSA in turn developed a pilot program beginning in summer 2008, providing a paid six-week externship opportunity for a local science teacher at a local bioscience company. The cost for the externship was divided equally between CBSA and the host company, Array BioPharma in Boulder. The application process on both sides was streamlined and uncomplicated: the company employs the 'extern' as a temporary employee and the teacher is asked to report back to the CBSA committee on his or her experience. The report includes how the teacher's classroom lesson plans may change as a result of the externship.
