In view of the fact that the paper ‘Site-specific group selection drives locally adapted group compositions’ (J. N. Pruitt and C. J. Goodnight Nature 514, 359–362; 2014) has been retracted, Timothy Linksvayer, the author of the News & Views article ‘Survival of the fittest group’ (Nature 514, 308–309; 2014), which dealt with this study and was based on the accuracy and reproducibility of the data, wishes to retract their article.
