Maternal immune activation does not alter the number of perisomatic parvalbumin-positive boutons in the offspring prefrontal cortex

The images depict perisomatic boutons made by parvalbumin-positive inhibitory interneurons (PV, shown in green) onto pyramidal projection neurons (cytoskeleton outlined with MAP2 staining in red). Adult mice that were exposed to maternal immune activation during embryogenesis (MIA, bottom panel) display the same number of boutons in the medial prefrontal cortex as non-exposed mice (saline, top panel).
