The DISC1 Ser704Cys polymorphism is associated with prefrontal function in healthy individuals

Effect of the DISC1 (disrupted-in-schizophrenia-1) Ser704Cys polymorphism on prefrontal function. Healthy volunteers with the Ser704/Ser704 genotype (n=26) showed greater activation during verbal fluency than Cys704 carriers (n=27) in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (P<0.05), particularly in the left hemisphere (left superior frontal gyrus: Z-score=5.0; FWEp=0.003; FDRp=0.006).
