We appreciate the interest shown in our article1 by Professor Abelazim. Professor Abelazim concerned that Thomasino et al.2 evaluated the immunoassay test containing combination of monoclonal/polyclonal antibody to detect placental protein 12 (PP12) and alpha fetoptotein (AFP) and not IGFBP-1/AFP as mentioned in our study. We were already aware of this point at the time of proposal development. Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) and PP12 are the identical proteins.3, 4 It is also known as AFBP, IBP1, IGF-BP25 and hIGFBP-1.4
