Summary
The distribution of PGM phenotypes was determined among 171 individuals in an isolated community in Japan. There revealed a high frequency of thePGM 1 7 allele (=0.0380), compared with either that of neighbouring populations or that of other ethnic groups. In addition, one rare individual homozygous for thePGM 1 7 allele was detected among those in the community.
