These baby mice bawl loudly — and Mum rushes over

Very young deer mice make squeaks audible to the human ear as well as ultrasound calls similar to those made by house mouse pups.

Not all rodents are quiet as a mouse. Researchers have found that baby deer mice let out loud squeaks that resemble the cries produced by other newborn mammals — and that bring mother mice running1.
