COVID restrictions are lifting — what scientists think

Many countries have started relaxing rules and scaling back testing. Researchers are divided over whether this return to normality is too fast, too soon.

Countries worldwide are starting to lift restrictions that were first imposed in 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19 — including rules that governed travel, socializing, mask wearing and self-isolation. The changes are prompting mixed reactions from scientists.
