Neither Mlkl nor Rip3 deficiency protects mice against CLP-mediated polymicrobial septic shock. (A) The age- and sex-matched littermates of wild-type (n = 10) or Mlkl−/− mice (n = 10) underwent a small midline laparotomy to expose the cecum. The exposed cecum was then ligated and punctured with a needle as described in Materials and Methods. Sham surgery was performed without the procedures of cecal ligation and puncture. There was no significant difference between these two groups. (B) The age- and sex-matched Rip3−/− (n = 18) and wild-type mouse littermates (n = 18) underwent the same protocol as described in (A). Similarly, no significant difference was observed.
