Replisome unloading is controlled by two pathways. (a) During DNA replication termination, the CRL2LRR1 ubiquitin ligase and the p97 segregase trigger replisome unloading from chromatin. (b) An additional backup mechanism that depends on the p97 adaptor UBXN3 drives replisome unloading from mitotic chromatin. See text for details.
