Scleritis is one of the part of a series of ophthalmic monographs edited by Peter McCulskey and, with contributions from Nick Di Girolamo, Peter Watson, Philip Luthert, Wolfgang Bernauer, Susan Lightman and others. It is a text aimed for ophthalmologists in training along with consultants. This book provides the reader with a concise, precise and up to date knowledge of this rare disease. It comprises a series of ten chapters. Starting with a detailed analysis of the anatomical and biochemical aspects of the sclera including brief embryology, the book takes the reader through the chapters on classification of scleritis, followed by a chapter on each of the different forms of episcleritis and scleritis including a chapter on infectious and surgically induced scleritis. The book ends up with chapters on complications, investigations and surgical management. Each of the chapters is well laid out and illustrated. It follows a general plan which starts with defining the clinical entity, followed by listing the clinical signs and symptoms leading on to the systemic association and finally ending with its management. The book hence provides the clinician with useful and practical guidelines for the diagnosis and management of patients with scleritis.

This book therefore, as a part of the whole series, will act as a quick reference guide in a busy clinic for the trainee ophthalmologist.
