Ideogram of human karyotype with human monogenic mutations ( Table 3) indicated in green, human loci identified by genome-wide linkage scans (Table 1) indicated in blue, and the potential location of one or more mouse QTLs (based on conserved homology) indicated in red, as described in Table 2 of ref. 19. The potential mouse QTL locations correspond to a large fraction of the human genome because there are many, and confidence limits for QTL mapping usually contain multiple segments of conserved homology.
